Lumbar Puncture videos
These videos may give you some idea of what a Lumbar Puncture is like (for both patient, nurse and doctor). This feed will display some practices I would not personally practice, but it gives you a very good idea of what’s involved.
In summary and LP requires the patient to either lie on their side, the skin is cleansed with anti-septic, a nerve freeze (local anaesthetic) is injected, then the needle is inserted until spinal fluid is collected from the end of the needle.

NB - there is a “joke” video that sometimes get streamed from Youtube which has a nurse collecting the spinal fluid into a coffee cup - although at the start it gives a very convincing demonstration of how to do an LP. You have been warned!
